This is My Why

About: Headliner

I am just an average lady and a single mom trying to do the best I can. Some people are asking me with all that I do, how am I creating Whispering Force and self-defense classes for our community? I’ll tell you why: a month ago I feared for my life and was even more frightened that my children may not have a mother if something would’ve happened and the situation was worse than it was.

I dropped my kids off at youth group in February around 6 p.m. I was followed throughout the store. In three different sections of the store I noticed the men following me but I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. When I looked around at self check out they were nowhere to be seen so I thought I was just fine and didn’t tell anyone my fears. When I came out to the parking lot they were out there waiting for me and let’s just say I have never been so scared. I was able to hit my car alarm before anyone could come towards me with what looked like a towel in his hand.

I never want any woman or child to feel fear. Whispering Force is stemming from a lot of things in my life and I knew it was something I had to move forward with. None of us are average, we are all special, we all deserve to feel safe in our environment and inspired by all the people around us.

A few days later, I was still frightened even in my own home. I knew that I had to find the silver lining and make things better and more empowering for others. I posted “who wants to take self defense classes with me?” on a mom’s page on Facebook and within a few hours, I had over 322 comments of women asking if I was spearheading a self-defense class. All the sudden, we launched Whispering Force! Connections and contacts are key and I’m not that type of business woman to do this on my own but I definitely have the drive, passion, and education behind me to make this something great!

YOU ARE SPECIAL, LOVED, and I want you to have the education and techniques behind you to be able to feel that every single day that your life matters. I want you to know that you can send your children off to college feeling just a little bit more secure in what they know to defend themselves. I want you to not freak out if your 8 year-old is walking from the bus because you couldn’t make it home in time.

I want women in domestic abuse shelters to be able to come to this class completely free through sponsorships and feel empowered to start the next chapter of their life.

Whispering Force means that women might be quiet to share our story but we can also be a force to be reckoned with with the right education and techniques behind us!
